It rained very hard last week so all of the trenches that we dug for our
footings were full of water. As soon as it stopped raining the crews returned
with pumps to remove the water. Then we had to wait for it to dry out. Suddenly
the weather forecast called for heavy rain on Tuesday, our scheduled pouring
day. Thankfully the crews showed up on Saturday to complete their preparations.
As Monday dawned there were cement trucks lined up waiting to disgorge their
contents for us. They worked through most of they day to empty 5 or 6 trucks.
"This house isn't going anyplace." commented one of the workers. The
cement will rest for a couple of days while it sets. We'll probably get heavy
rain tonight so this came just in time. Maybe they can start the framing next
week.
